Advising in the Department of Health Sciences at Illinois State University is a partnership. Through advising, you will plan, obtain, and evaluate your education while navigating the university's resources. Your advisor will assist you, guide you, and advocate for you during this process.

Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the following:
Managing your own learning
Setting and assessing educational goals
Actively taking part in advising activities and utilizing the guidance your advisor provides.
You should also become a competent learner. This will be apparent by your ability to:
Create an appropriate plan of study including major requirements, general education, and graduation requirements
Use the Progress Toward Degree Summary and Degree Audit to make decisions regarding your plan of study
Demonstrate, through action and discussion, an understanding of pertinent university policies (withdrawal, repeat, transfer, appeals, etc.)
Demonstrate, through consistent utilization, familiarity with a broad array of campus resources, both in Academic Affairs and in Student Affairs
Demonstrate, through behavior and speech, personal values that are consistent with the broadly educated, intentional learner (appreciation of learning, professionalism, civic engagement, and an appreciation for diversity).
