Scholarships & Awards

Each of the five degree programs in the Health Sciences department offers scholarships and awards each year on a competitive basis for its students. Application materials are made available to students in the fall and winter, and students are honored in the spring at the annual Student Recognition Day.

Medical Lab Science Scholarships

  • Wood Scholarship – Awarded for academic excellence and commitment to the CLS profession.
  • Corsaut Scholarship – Awarded for academic excellence, commitment to the profession, and financial need.
  • Martens Scholarship – Awarded for academic excellence and community service.
  • Spencer Scholarship – Awarded for academic excellence, financial need, and African American heritage.

Other Scholarships

  • MLS students in their junior or senious year of study can apply for the American Proficiency Institute Scholarships. Applications are available in August and due by November 1.
  • MLS students entering their last year of study can apply for an ASCLS/ Alpha Mu Tau . Applications are available in November and due by April 1.

Departmental Honors

The Department of Health Sciences offers qualified students the challenge and distinction of earning Departmental Honors through approved course work. Students completing the department’s requirements will receive an Honors degree in Health Sciences which will be indicated on the official transcript and diploma upon conferral.
