The Illinois State University Medical Laboratory Science Society (MLSS) was organized in 1972. Its purpose is to enhance student development toward professional goals, attitudes and relationships. It is a fee supported student organization at Illinois State; membership is open to students in all majors. Membership provides opportunities to develop networking skills, leadership skills and to broaden interests.
The Society meets approximately once each month, but other activities or special programs are occasionally planned between meetings. Activities include speakers on medical laboratory issues or concerns and social events (pizza parties, cookouts). The Society sponsors an Open House for high school students. During National Laboratory week special activities are planned by the Society, which promote the visibility of medical laboratory science.
