News Update

Welcome Back Students!

Are you new to Health Sciences?   We would like to welcome you here!  The following are a few pieces of information you may find helpful in your first few weeks here.

  • The main Health Sciences office is in FHS 305, that is the old part of Felmley Hall which can be accessed directly off of the Quad.
  • The advisor's office is also in the old part of Felmley Hall in FHS 311.  You can make an appointment with our advisor, Anjie Almeda,  by clicking on this link or by calling the Health Sciences Office at 438-8329
  • You can access our Web Page and Facebook Pages for up-to-date information throughout the year.  Our Web Page is under construction. There will soon be a Student Life page with information about places to eat, recreation ideas, information about housing, and much more. There will also be much more information about our Faculty and Staff. Watch for the new changes.  We also hope to soon have an Instagram account too!  Is there something in particular you would like to see on our Web page or Facebook page?  Email Ann with your ideas.  If we use your idea, you will win a prize!
  • You can find all the contact information you need for our faculty under our faculty tab on our Web Page.  They are there to help you with what you need.
  • Check out the bulletin boards by the advising office for advising news, what's happening with out student's and faculty, and research opportunities.
  • Please feel free to call the the Health Sciences Office with any other questions you may have. 438-8329 .  Ann will help direct you to where you need to go for help.

Welcome to our newest Health Sciences Faculty Member!

Heather Mautino joins us this semester in Health Information Management.

Heather will join Jane Turley and Jennifer Peterson to complete the Health Information Management program.  Her office will be in FHA 424.  Please welcome her to the department!  Her picture will soon be on our faculty page.

Nolte Scholar Speaker Coming in September! 

Ella Watson-Stryker

Ella Watson-Stryker, 2014 Time Magazine Person of the Year will be our Nolte Scholar this Fall

Ella is the health educator for Doctors-Without-Borders working for the Ebola effort.  She is currently in Guinea assisting with that effort.  She will be here to speak to all ISU students and staff, and participate in our Health Sciences classes, as well as speak to our community health educators and staff at a box lunch event at Advocate Bromenn Hospital.  Her topic is The Health Educator's Role in the Ebola Effort.   I hope all of our Health Sciences students will welcome her here to Illinois State University.

Health Sciences is planning a tailgate event for homecoming weekend.  Watch the Web page and Facebook page for more news on this event!


Newsletters are in the works for Health Sciences and each of our programs. 

The plan is for a new edition to come out at the start of each semester.  Do you have an idea of something that you think should be included in our newsletters?  Email Ann with your ideas.  If we use your idea, you will win a prize!  Would you like a questions for the faculty column?

Do You Still Need Help With The New Registration System?

There are still a few glitches with the new registration system.  Contact the Resource Center at 309-438-0725, M-F from 8am - 4:30pm, and visit the Registration Resource Guide at for additional information.  If you are still having problems, our advisor can assist you.
