Wendy Dover and Laura Mayer, two ISU Health Education Majors, who were awarded Illinois Society for Public Health Education (ISOPHE) Scholarships in the amount of $1000 this Fall, 2014. Wendy is excited about beginning a new career after serving the geriatric community for twenty years as a certified nursing assistant. She is interested in serving the under-served communities who do not have a voice. Laura's was driven into Health Education because of health issues in her family Her goal in Health Education is to encourage others to utilize healthy behaviors as much as possible in order to improve their overall health and extend their lifespans. ISOPHE's mission is to provide leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion and to contribute to the health of all people through advances in health education theory and research, excellence in health education practice, leadership through a code of ethics, standards for professional preparation, and the promotion of public policies conducive to health.
